FAQ
What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is a gentle, non-invasive way to train your brain. It works by showing you real-time information about your brainwave activity—kind of like a mirror for your mind—so you can learn how to shift into a more balanced, focused, and calm state. Over time, this helps your brain learn how to self-regulate and function more efficiently. We practice two different types of neurofeedback – Microstimulation and Traditional.
What should I expect?
During a neurofeedback session, small sensors are placed on your head to measure your brainwave activity. You’ll relax in a comfortable chair while your brain receives feedback through visual or audio cues—like watching a movie or listening to sounds—designed to guide your brain toward healthier patterns. Sessions typically last about 30 minutes and are non-invasive and pain-free.
How many sessions will I need?
Each person’s needs vary, but a typical series is 15-20 sessions for adults, fewer for youth. Benefits accumulate over time, and results typically endure and improve with continued sessions.
What are some of the benefits of neurofeedback?
Clients report improved focus, mental clarity, restful sleep, increased motivation, and reduced anxiety, depression, irritability, and stress.
Are there any side effects of neurofeedback?
Possible temporary effects include tiredness, headaches, or increased anxiety as the brain adjusts. These are typically short-lived, and hydration and rest may help. Notify your practitioner if you experience any concerns.
What is your policy on confidentiality?
All session information and records are confidential and will not be disclosed without your written permission, except where required by law.
